Dezell Honoured
Prince George, B.C.- Former City Councilor Cliff Dezell has been bestowed “Freedom of the City”. It doesn’t offer much in the way of special treatment, ( it does allow one to let their sheep graze on City Hall lawn) but it is a sign of ultimate respect.
Dezell served in public office for 27 years, 19 of them on Council. “He had a quiet leadership, he didn’t have to be the conductor on the train” says Councilor Dave Wilbur. He says Dezell often worked to ensure those who were pushing to reach a certain destination, stayed on track.
Wilbur said Dezell was a man of integrity, and came from a family whose dedication to serve the community “is in their DNA”. Dezell’s late father Gavin was a former Mayor of Prince George and was also made a Freeman of the City.
In accepting the recognition, Cliff Dezell said he wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t fun.
