Two Locals Honoured For Community Service
Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris, Judy Dix, Selen Alpay and Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond
Prince George, B.C.- Two Prince George residents have been honoured at the 11th annual British Columbia Community Achievement Awards ceremony at Government House in Victoria this week.
Judy Dix, and Selen Alpay were among 32 British Columbians to be honoured.
“Both Judy and Selen exemplify selfless service to our community and to our province,” said Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond . “Thank you Selen and Judy for your continued commitment to making a difference in our community. I was very proud to be able to attend the Government House ceremony where they joined exceptional community achievers from all across the province for this significant recognition.”
Selen supports a wide range of local organizations including Elizabeth Fry Society, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, Northern Supportive Recovery Centre, Baldy Hughes Therapeutic Community and Canadian Cancer Society. Selen supports these organizations personally as well as through his Canadian Tire business.
For more than 30 years, Judy has organized, fundraised and coordinated the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association Branch. She has also committed countless hours to Volunteer Prince George, Prince George Crimestoppers, Canadian Red Cross, Prince George Seniors’ Resource Centre, Meals on Wheels and the Prince George Community Foundation.
“The dedicated service Judy and Selen provide has a significant impact on many members of our community here in Prince George,” said Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris . “We are fortunate to have citizens like Selen and Judy in Prince George.”
