Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George is  “ all aboard” in  helping CN Rail mark the 100th anniversary of the arrival of  rail  in Prince George.

The  ribbons of steel  officially arrived in Prince George on April 7th of  1914, and  several months later would  end in  Prince Rupert.

The commemorative banners will be  displayed on the street lights along Highway 97 in Prince George from Pine Centre to the John Hart Bridge .  The banners depict themes such as “the arrival of rail in Prince George in 1914,” and mark the anniversary of the “Last Spike” .

“CN is proud of its history in Northern BC,” says Doug Ryhorchuk, CN General Manager. “With more than 600 employees in the Prince George area and an historic line that provides a direct link to the Port of Prince Rupert, this region continues to play an essential role along CN’s network in supporting the local and national economies.”

Today, CN runs 10 to 15 trains through Prince George each day, with major commodities  ranging from grain to coal to consumer goods finding their way to market.

Wahoo.

to bad the lumber and pulp did not make it as major commodities, or is it because they don’t have cars.

Railroaded? Word/picture association at it’s best, I guess.

As someone who works at a place that relays heavily on CN I see nothing to celebrate. Lousy if any service, bringing in wrong cars, not showing up for switches etc. mills needing to buy storage areas for pulp etc..

I hope shari (mayor queen green) gets left on the tracks come election time this fall.

I thought scary sheri refused to talk to opinion 250?

I guess it is okay though for her to get her hired PR staff to take a nice picture of her smiling away and make sure it gets sent in. It must be an election year.
