Well, I don’t know what’s left wing about ti.Maybe thats all in your (bigoted) assumptions. To me, all the cartoon says is that using unarmed aircraft is not a show of force, it is a joke. Arm them, then it will be a show of force. If you don’t want to do that, then don’t send them. It’s dangerous for the pilots to fly in a potential war zone without arms, isn’t it?

Those aircraft can be armed at a moment’s notice. Think they would send over there for just a photo op, give your head a shake. This is done because we are in NATO and who knows how far this will go. We also have a warship over there and warships always travel fully armed. Canada is joining a NATO operation. The talk about unarmed is to try and keep events low key.
Don’t worry there are those who are willing to keep you safe.

Read in the Ottawa Citizen last week that Russia will not be launching a satellite for the Canadian airforce later this month. A Satellite essential for Canada monitoring the North. Soon if it goes any further they will cut off access to the International Space Station as well.
I read Putin’s take on the situation in his own words. I have to say it is a lucid explanation of his perspective and the likes of Harper have a lot of blame to share for the current situation.
Canada backed a fascist coup in Ukraine that doesn’t respect the federalist dynamic of the country and is now using military force on civilians in Ukrainian cities. If this is what our government has to do to get oil and gas rights or NATO missile bases on Russia’s door step, then I don’t support what they are doing… its ham fisted and creates conditions for war that chicken hawks in Canada feel they are safe from.

I’m quite sure that ammo for these aeroplanes is just a phone call away and can be Fed-Exed overnight from our Nato base in Germany if needed. Besides, no law against cellphone use while piloting a CF-18 is there?

“Think they would send over there for just a photo op”.
Yes, actually I do, I think Harper is cynical enough for that.
“Don’t worry there are those who are willing to keep you safe.”
Yes, and I am grateful. I also respect the fact that some of them are left wing, and that many left wingers have already given their lives so everyone in Canada, including you, can express their opinions.

Agreed Eagleone, there is always two sides to a story. I like to read Russia Today to get their side of things. This whole situation could be blamed on the bullies of the planet!

pink soft butt implies Caucasians only get to be kept in one piece. If your butt ain’t pink, it not worth saving?
What a disrespectful comment.

…disrespectful comment…? Crpwn yerself as Queen of the Comment Police. Could work into a full time job. Time for a branch office of a Human Rights Commission to open here in PG. I am offended with a lot of things that go on in this great country. I said things. Words? Nah. Not so much.

Hey Loki that’s a generic term but you wouldn’t know that would you. I find your comment disrespectful to my family, but not surprised.
Hey Ammonra I served my country how about you?
Disrespect is that useless cartoon.

I was never in the armed forces, Seamut, but both my grandfather and a brother were killed in the first and second world wars. Both were “typical leftwing wingnuts”, as you so offensively put it, fighting for the freedoms you enjoy.
But, tell me, when you ask that question are you suggesting that only those who have been in the armed forces deserve freedom in Canada? I though it was for everyone. Am I wrong? If I am not wrong, then your question is really, really disrespectful, isn’t it? It’s also quite an insult to those who died so we could live it, especially the “typical leftwing wingnuts” among them.

I agree with Eagleone on this…hate the Russia bad, we good, thinking that is being displayed. It is leading to a very uncomfortable situation. The acrimony that exists in the Ukraine is deep, and probably beyond the average Canadian voter’s comprehension, and certainly won’t be solved by Harper’s sabre rattling. He is taking advantage of this to help win brownie points in the electorate, in a very dangerous and unproductive fashion. Not only is the divisiveness international, but in typical Harper fashion manifested within Canada as well. All you have to do is read the comments and name calling on this forum, as is typical of late of any forum across Canada, the left wing wingnuts calling the right wing wingnuts names. LOL When the truth of the matter is the vast majority of Canadians are “centeralist”. They prefer a sensible middle of the line approach to most things, a fact that has stood this country in good stead for many years. Harper and his Reformers have done more to destroy this sensibility with their divisive tactics than can be imagined.

When the Nazis invaded Poland I sure am glad we didn’t have all these lefties around. Can you imagine an app for Chamberlain? If people could have foreseen history, Chamberlain would be defriended on Facebook so fast. But with Russia, well that’s different, eh? History awaits. Again.

Harbinger, I fail to see the historical parallel to Hitler invading Poland, to the history of the Crimea. Perhaps you could illuminate us how Poland was handed back and forth like a football, and the ethnic similarities that existed. Hmmmm..listening.

Did anyone read Putin’s speech? Another point, why, and this is interesting, do we have to go to a Prague paper to read the whole thing? The western media is not much concerned with facts and history, more interested in ratings and ad dollars. The drivel that sell for news stories is sad, sad, sad, missing the gist time and time again.

Hear, hear EB2. harper wants to fight with everyone . He wants to fight with the Supreme Court , military vets, scientists , labour , the natives , the Inuit , the métis , the provinces , women , the United Nations , and anyone that doesn’t agree with him . I would be more concerned with protecting our arctic against possible annexation of our northern islands by Russia . Russia does not recognize the sovereignty of our north . This Ukraine mess is a perfect distraction for our Doolittle pm.
