Prince George, B.C. – The Sub Zero Track Meet held at Masich Place Stadium on Saturday could not have been more aptly named.

With a maximum temperature of a blazing 6 degrees and northeasterly winds of 30 gusting to 50 kilometres per hour, sub-zero felt like it could definitely have been in the cards.  However, that did not stop roughly 180 competitors from all over northern B.C. from making the trip here to take part in the annual meet hosted by the Prince George Track and Field Club.

Besides a strong contingent of local athletes the meet attracted competitors from Williams Lake and McBride (both of which received snow Saturday), Quesnel, Mackenzie, and out west to Vanderhoof, Houston, Terrace, Prince Rupert and the Nisga’a Nation Track and Field Club.

The meet began late Saturday morning and wrapped up in the late afternoon, with the aid of a host of volunteers.  The P.G. Track and Field Club’s next event is the Spruce Capital Meet in early June.
