Monday, May 5, 2014 @ 12:48 AM

Prince George- A fire is burning in at least two buildings in the downtown, between 3rd and 4th on George St.

Two buildings, one, which houses "Something Old and Something New", are at the center of the fire which broke out just after 11.30 pm. Sunday night.

Fire crews are on the scene and power has been cut to the area as fire fighters try to contain the blaze.

A security guard at the under construction, Wood Innovation Center, near the fire, said he could smell smoke and then checked his building, when he continued to smell smoke , he called 911, but a call had already been received.

The extent of the fire and whether there have been any injuries is not known at this time.

It is not known whether the downtown will have power restored before the work day begins Monday morning.

That is so very sad. The Copper Pig was a fabulous restuarant :-(
Rather alarming the number of fires in PG as of late.

There was another fire tonight near midnight just off of Ospika past Massey in the townhouse area. It looked like a trash bin maybe? Was a huge looking fire but fire truck seemed to have it out right away, and then the fire truck took off in a hurry with sirens still on, apparently back to the downtown fire.

So its all kind of odd timing seeing two fires so closely together in time, but on other sides of town? I look forward to hearing some straight forward answers how these were started in the coming days, one would hope.

Perhaps the city needs to hire a full-time detective to find out the causes of these fires first.
