New ITA Board Named
Prince George, B.C.- A new board of directors for B.C.'s Industry Training Authority (ITA) has been appointed by Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour.
The new Board chair is Gwynn Morgan, founding CEO of EnCana Corporation and recognized as Canada's Outstanding CEO of the Year.
Board members are:

Andries (Andy) Calitz, the Vice-President of LNG Canada.

Barj Dhahan, the founder and chief executive officer of Sandhurst Group of Companies and the director of PCS Biofuels Ltd.

Gordon Grant, the Communications Coordinator for the First Nations Employment Society.

Lindsay Langill, a professor and the dean of School of Trades and Technology at Thompson Rivers University.

Rick Kasper, a retired bricklayer and stonemason who operated a small business for many years.

Tom Sigurdson, executive director for the British Columbia and Yukon Territory Building and Construction Trades Council.

MJ Whitemarsh, the former CEO of the Canadian Home Builders' Association British Columbia.

Jonathan Whitworth, the chief executive officer of Seaspan.
The new board will be responsible for building stronger partnerships with industry and labour to deliver training and apprenticeships as part of B.C.'s Skills for Jobs Blueprint.
Effective immediately, the new ITA board will begin implementation of the 29 recommendations in the independent review of the ITA conducted by Jessica McDonald, and will be accountable for outcomes that are evidence-based and demand driven.

Strange that not a single union involvement is indicated with this process yet the majority of the people will be employed in a union.

Nothing like keeping your “friends” close
On the other hand, we could interpret the appointments as covering a cross section of industry and interested parties, though I would like to see more representation from individual trades persons.

Is this a board that will be handing out tax dollars to train apprentices for the govt’s friends in business?
Uh Lunarcom, no union involvement? Maybe read the whole story bud. Guess you can’t figure out who Tom Sigurdson is huh…
And by the way, only business’s hire apprentices, not the bctf or geu by the way
Hopefully this bunch can turn things around.The group that has been running the program lately, are totally useless, and have made a joke of the program.Good riddance!
I stand corrected. Tim does head up an organization that represents some of the trade unions in the construction industry.
