Nechako Levels Up as Snowpack Melts
Water levels rise on Nechako – photos 250News
Prince George, B.C. – It is amazing what a difference a couple of weeks can make in the levels on a river.
In the photos above, the Nechako River shows a low level in mid April, and two weeks later on the 1st of May, the water at the same spot has risen significantly.
This is the time of year when safety is paramount as streams, creeks and rivers are often running high and fast as the snowpack melts.
While the Nechako basin snowpack was below norms for this time of year , the Upper Fraser basin was a little above norm.
Depending on how much rain, or how quickly the snow melts, will tell the tale on the risk of flooding.
The latest snowpack information will be released later this week.

The upper Fraser snow pack is considerably higher than a bit above normal !
Just wonder if Alcan’s going to release a whole whack of water again, raise the level to extremes?
