Prince George, BC – Prince George RCMP have arrested a teenager in connection with the armed robbery of a local restaurant…

Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says several charges have been laid against a 16-year-old boy in connection with a hold-up at a fast food restaurant on Westwood Drive that occurred back on April 16th.

The youth, who cannot be named, has been charged with robbery, use of an imitation firearm during an indictable offence, pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Corporal Douglass says the youth was released by the court with several conditions and is schedule to make another appearance on May 14th.

Desperate child.

I often wonder about the sanity of releasing violent offenders, pending their court cases.
While it is true that they are presumed innocent until proven guilty, in a case where the police have very strong evidence and a history of violent behaviour for some accused, is it really right to release them again?
I just hope this kid, (not really) is able to learn a lesson here, that the arm of the law is longer than he thought.

I agree. If the youth is a violent repeat offender the public deserves a right to know who he/she is.

so he is judged before his age of majority?

What if this was one of your children, or nephew? Would you want the same treatment?

He is 16. No, he should not get off scott free. I believe his actions speak to his upbringing and environment. He knows not what he does. Let’s help him learn rather than prosecute him into a life career criminal.

He should be thankful that he committed his stupidity in Canada, where if he had done so in a few of our southern neighbor states, he could well be dead. Considering some states allow persons to carry concealed firearms, they could have dealt with him on the spot. Your environment and up bringing is of little influence when you simply use stupid logic.

The laws protecting youth should never have been changed in the 80’s. There was a lot less grief with youth when there were serious consequences for being a young idiot. Mind you there was a great deal more respect paid to police, courts and person’s in authority then.

Sad commentary on the next generation.

like your generation never produced criminals for christ sake.

Good point twospeed99. I suspect that statistically there are just as many criminals to-day as there were 30/40/50 years ago. (per capita)

Seems to me when I was young the jails, penitentiaries etc; were full.

Any correlation between daycare use and the number of young offenders then and now?
