Prince George, BC – The Canadian Cancer Society's 22nd Annual Relay for Life will get off to a powerful start at 10am this morning, as cancer survivors kick the event into gear with a victory lap…
The only 24-hour relay in the country, this year's goal is to be the number one fundraising city – after Prince George placed second to a suburb of Montreal last year.
According to last night's website tally, donations had reached 75-percent of the goal of raising $525-thousand dollars and stood at $394,756.44.
The top five fundraising teams, so far, are: Team Diller ($25,311), Costco Crusaders ($19,380), Peterbilt Pacific ($17,044), Allnorth Allstars ($15,787), and Deere's Dough$ 4 Buck$ (15,316).
Participants will be walking, jogging, and running the track at Masich Place Stadium all day and through the night.
The luminary ceremony honouring those who lost their battle to the disease will light up the track at midnight.
