Vaisakhi Parade Goes Today

Prince George, B.C. – This is a big weekend for the local Sikh community as it celebrates Vaisakhi, a Punjabi festival marking the beginning of the harvest season and the birth of the Khalsa, the body of the nation of initiated Sikhs.
The Guru Nanak Darbar Society is inviting everyone in the city to join in the celebration by taking in today’s Vaisakhi parade, which begins at 10 this morning. The parade begins on David Road off Ospika Boulevard and winds its way down the hill on Ospika, proceeding to the parking lot at CN Centre.
The very colourful event will include entertainment, booths with cultural foods, displays and announcements running through until 4 this afternoon.
