Prince George, B.C. – There has been a reported drowning west of Prince George this long weekend.

RCMP officers were dispatched to Kwitzil Lake (also commonly referred to as Gravel Pit Lake), approximately 32 kilometres west of Prince George and just before the turn-off to the Isle Pierre Road, during the overnight period early this morning.  Information from the scene indicates that a vehicle containing two people had driven into the lake, and that at least one fatality is involved.

One person on scene reports that a party involving several young people was being held at the lake, and that several of those in attendance jumped into the water in attempts to rescue the people in the vehicle.

We are awaiting further information from the RCMP.

Probably a grad party. How very sad. Sorry to hear about another senseless accident.

I was thinking that candy – it was DP Todds prom last night. Tragic.

That is so sad ….. condolences to the family

My comment is that we were all young once and thinking back we were lucky sometimes

I heard it on the scanner and the dispatcher mentioned a 17yr old and either 18-19yr old.
