UNBC Alumni Association Announces Award Winners

Prince George – The Chair of the Board for the Regional District of Fraser Fort George, is about to get special recognition from the University of Northern B.C.

Art Kaehn is one of three people who will be honoured by the UNBC Alumni Association.

He will be made an Honorary Member of the Alumni Association in recognition of his ongoing support of the University.  The Alumni Association refers to Kaehn as “a great ambassador of UNBC, a leader in the region through his extensive service in local government, and a philanthropist supporting the mission and mandate of UNBC through his giving to support students.”

Also to be honoured at the Alumni Association awards night are Allison Fedorkiw, who is receiving the Professional Excellence Award and Melissa Barcellos, who is the recipient of the Community Service Award.

Allison Fedorkiw founded the 27 Million Voices Society to end and prevent human trafficking.

Melissa Barcellos is an active volunteer in the community. She runs marketing and promotion activities for the Prince George Judo Club, is volunteering as a co-venue leader at the Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre during the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and has been elected to sit on the board of the BC SPCA.

The Alumni Association of UNBC will hold its annual awards reception at 7 p.m. on May 29 in the Bentley Centre at UNBC’s Prince George Campus.
