The grant comes from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
The Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat plans to contribute $629,485 to the project from its own capital reserve, which would fund 72% of the total project costs
The apron expansion will create a parking area for a third aircraft. This means the airport will be able to service three commercial aircraft at one time, meaning passengers won’t have to wait as long in the terminal.
The expansion comes at a time when the airport is seeing increased activity because of industrial growth in the northwest.
Last year, the airport saw passenger traffic increase by 38% over the previous year.

Nice to see activity in the North West in places like Pr Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, Vanderhoof, etc;
As these areas grow, we get some of the benefits.
Build it, and they will come…. Ohhh, no that’s what we did.
