Quesnel, B.C. – The River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Quesnel and Cottonwood Rivers as well as the North Thompson.
The Quesnel River near Quesnel is flowing at 889 cubic meters per second (close to a 5-year flow) and the rate of rise has slowed since yesterday. Forecast flows indicate moderate increases through to mid-week. Light to moderate rainfall is forecast for early in the week.
There is a flood watch in effect for the Clearwater and Horsefly Rivers. Although the levels on the Horsefly have dropped about 10 cm since yesterday, there is rain in the forecast and that could lead to a further rise in river levels on Monday
