Thursday, June 5, 2014 @ 11:10 AM

Prince George, B.C.- Cirque de Soleil is coming to Prince George.

CN Centre Manager Glen Mikkelson was practically bursting at the seams when  the announcement was made this morning at the Civic Centre. "It is so great to finally share this secret with you all, we've been bursting to tell you!" bellowed Mickkelson to the crowd on hand for the official announcement.

The Cirque show that will be  in Prince George is “Dralion” and the Prince George performances will; be among the last for that show.

Cirque will kick off the City’s centennial year with a show of New Year’s eve, and six  show after that.

It will bring to Prince George 18 tractor trailers loaded with gear and costumes,  and 100 performers from around the world

Tickets for the shows go on sale June 20th.

Good job! Hopefully this city will utilize their venues more!

The PAC idea just does not want to die.

Our tax dollars at work – City people should pay attention….May 9/14 City Hall council meeting –
NDIT has an application in on behalf of the PAC for money to market the
PAC.

My error! The date should read JUNE 9, 2014.

How can we host Cirque du Soleil without a PAC? What will we do?

What? We have the CN Centre? Never mind.

wonder how many people will actually be able to affort the price of tickets.
If ticketmaster is involved you bet not too many

CN Center will hold more people that the proposed PAC., by far.

As they say this is a really big show great for PG for sure.

Have no worry, they will be sold out with 7 shows should have luck getting ticket or two

Food bank and a circus on the same street? Get it? Give them bread and circuses?….? Uh, er, never mind.

WTG Glenn,

Cirque is the show to go see. seen most of them in Vegas.

Tickets should be between $100-$200 after Ticketmaster gets their cut.

When is the show???

This is very exciting. As for the price, it is worth every dime, and will be much cheaper than going to Vegas to see it. ;)
I guess we don’t need a PAC to have world class theater here?

PAC is a taxpayer nightmare, as with other projects those supporting should stop talking to themselves and get out in the public and test the waters. PAC would be nice but so would a New house but can you support afford it?

I saw Cirque Du Soleil in Vancouver and it was incredible. It wasn’t located at a PAC, however, it was in their huge circus tent setup.

They were also here in Ottawa and again, not at a PAC. Again, they were in their circus tent setup.

I’ve also seen where they were setup in Montreal and yet again, not at a PAC but in their own tent setup.

So what’s with all these people thinking that Cirque would use a PAC? I’m beginning to think that people in PG don’t know what a PAC actually is, LOL ;)

Oh and yes, you should go see this act!

I would doubt the stage in the PAC would be big enough to support a Cirque anyway, nor will it have the height.

NDIT and City Hall are pretty quiet with anything to do about a PAC now a days.

The PAC is looking for grant money for marketing involving Live Works Communication. Imagine this will be just a start….

Be prepared PG to be bombarded with advertising on why the PAC is needed in the near future.

What great news for the residents of Prince George and surrounding areas!! Will buy tickets for sure. Thanks Glen.

Nice of them to mention when…

Not part of the story, but I’m really hoping for a referendum on a PAC.

I think it will be a CN centre show. Saw a big top show in Van City. Awesome. Seen a few in Vegas also awesome. Hopefully this show will also be……..awesome.

Grizzly1… Hoping for a referendum on the PAC? Are you nutz? Politicians, be they municipal, provincial or federal don’t do referendums. Justin’s ol’ man said, “If we had referendums in Canada like they do in Switzerland to decide everything, why would you need a government?” Once most people get elected they park their morals and their scruples and values and ethics at the front door. No one is gonna tell them how to spend your tax dollars after all their trouble and expense of getting elected. Good luck with a referendum. That’s taking power from political know-it-alls who know what’s best for you. Sad but true.

NMG: “So what’s with all these people thinking that Cirque would use a PAC? I’m beginning to think that people in PG don’t know what a PAC actually is, LOL ;)”

Silly me, I always thought PAC stood for “Performing Arts Centre”.

What a terrible event to see live.
Overpriced hype. Don’t buy the bs sheeple.

The so called Performing Arts Centre will only hold 800 people. Hardly enough room to swing a cat.

CN Centre can hold 6000, and host the event inside.

I agree with NMG, some people don’t know what a PAC is.

The only thing **Big** about a PAC is the cost of the building. Other than that its small potatoes and not needed in Prince George.

We definitely need a referendum on the expenditure of big dollars on a PAC, and we need some politicians to stand up and support the referendum idea.
