WestJet Extends P.G. -Calgary Flight Sched

Friday, June 6, 2014 @ 9:10 AM

Prince George, B.C.- WestJet  is extending its non-stop flight from Prince George to Calgary .

It means there will be more options for those who will be looking for a sun destination in the winter months.

“WestJet’s seasonal non- stop flight to Puerto Vallarta continues to be a very strong service” says Prince George Airport CEO John Gibson “However, the sun destination choices out of Calgary are extensive.”

The  PG – Calgary flight  will provide  access to sun destinations such as  Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Phoenix and Cuba.

The winter schedule has the nonstop flight leaving Prince George at 6:00am PST, getting into YYC at 8:28am MST. The return flight leaves Calgary at 10:25pm MST getting into Prince George at 11:10pmPST.

Good news. Probably bad news for Central Mountain Air though.

Are the prices through Calgary going to be more competitive than the direct flight from pg to pv?
Hopefully. The direct flight to PV is a rip off.
Cabo San here I come next winter when these canada scam winter games are going on.
Only good thing about the games will be not having the mayor queen green around by then posing for any and every photo opportunity. Smug smug smug.

@lildigger: If you hate the mayor, how is she supposed to look when having her picture taken, so that it doesn’t appear smug to you? I’m sure she’d like to know.

Best way to get from Prince George to Thunder Bay. Gets you in TBay same day at 3:30pm instead of 11:30pm if you had gone via PG to Vancouver then Toronto.

Cantral mountain air flight time to and from Calgary are opposite times of the day so they will pick up a different group of passengers. Also, the bothe airlines are interlined with each other so compliments each other.

PV traffic could drop off. Central Mountain Air to Calgary will probably morph into a flight to Prince George from Terrace, with a connection to Calgary via West Jet.

Understand that ridership on the WestJet to Calgary is not all that great. Anybody taken the trip????

Does that not sum up sherries smile?

I’ve done the PG to Calgary flight 2 times now to nearly full flights both times however the return flight leaves way to late for me so no idea on what return ridership is like.

Did the trip last weekend, nice flight, quick and pleasant. The price was right using air miles round trip. Gets you to Cow town in time for meetings and gets you home nicely at the end of the day. Ridership will increase with the positive feedback. Westjet 727 lots of room and good seat choices. I was not paid for this promotional feedback, just a positive experience worth sharing.

IMO it started too late in the season. It would have been nice if it had been available when everyone was trying to escape winter. I think they will be full come fall/winter.

Horizon/Alaska did the same thing …..started too late (May I think) to get vacationers heading south and then cancelled at the end of summer because flights were empty. They should have started in November and targeted the sun seekers.

Direct flights from Vancouver to Terrace, round trip, are up to three flight a day, all by-passing the Prince George airport of course!

As Prince George continues to stagnate…

This article fails to mention an important fact. Effective Oct 26, YXS-YYC is being downgraded to Westjet Encore Dash 8.

Uh, are you sure that’s not just your general hatred of the mayor making you think those thoughts? I think you’re reading a bit too much into a smile for a photo op pic.
