Emergency responders on-scene of crash on Foothills last night photo submitted
Prince George, BC – It is not known if anyone was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Foothills Boulevard last night…
Damage appears extensive to a pick-up truck and compact car, and a light standard was knocked down in the southbound lanes of Foothills, near the off ramp to Otway Road. The collision occurred around 9pm last night.
There are no details available from RCMP at this time. The photo above appears to show the occupants of the one of the vehicles being checked by a paramedic at the roadside.

I went by t here at that time, and there is not much left of the car.
The overpass offered up a nice vantage point for this picture.
I hope and pray everyone involved is okay.
I don’t know about this particular incident but I estimate 99% of the vehicles being driven on foothills are being driven in excess of the speed limit.
(not counting overloaded trucks going to the dump lol)
This is just an observation I made after I started doing the speed limit. I apologize for this but I could lose my job with my current employer if I get points on my licence even if I get them off the job so now that I am not speeding I am being tailgated everywhere but in particular coming down foothills where it is only 1 lane.
Exceeding the speed limit didn’t cause this. Stupid humans did.

Exactly.
Nobody knows how fast or how slow the vehicles were going.
However it is probably correct that the vast majority practically everywhere is exceeding the posted speed limits.
Drivers sticking to the posted speed limit plus a bit extra get mercilessly tailgated; that is also a fact. Tailgating is a form of coercion and subject to a fine and points. But the cops are usually never there, so it goes on all the time.

I have to wonder how big an issue tailgating would be if the person being tailgated were to move over?
“I have to wonder how big an issue tailgating would be if the person being tailgated were to move over? ” .. how do you move over from the right lane? And if it is not a double lane, why should anyone who is going the posted limit feel the need to pull over?

Go ahead, tailgate me. Hope you don’t mind having my rear bumper shoved up your…………………front bumper.
axman:”I have to wonder how big an issue tailgating would be if the person being tailgated were to move over?”
Move over to where? Onto the gravel shoulder? Where does one move over to when being tailgated in the right lane of a four lane highway, like the Hart?
Tailgating wouldn’t be an issue if the ones doing the tailgating wouldn’t have mashed potatoes for brains.
I never get tailgated, nor do I tailgate. Mind you, I travel with the flow of traffic, even though it might be a little over the posted limit at times.
I found a useful way of discouraging tailgaters. Look for loose gravel on the side of the road & slowly move into it, the resulting spray to the tailgater is enough of a deterrent to keep them far back. Works best in the spring.
It’s a double lane. Keep right except to pass. Seems simple, doesn’t it?

Move to the left lane?
Most of the tailgating I see is from drivers in the left lane who are stuck behind some impotent yahoo who feels his manhood is being questioned and refuses to let the tailgater by.
Since most drivers in this town are too stupid to comprehend “Keep Right Except To Pass” I’ve learned that pass on the right and point out the signs to you all.

Most of the drivers in this town seem to have an IQ in double digits. If that.
Axman…..exactly
The RCMP need to shut down the passing lane slow folks. Impeding the flow of traffic. Washington State is cracking down fortunately. It’s a long time over due.
Even though 97N is 60-70 kph, it’s still a highway, not a residential road like 15th ave.
not one of you get it do you, as long as you can turn left from a two lane road you have to be in the left lane and you for sure don’t have to be going 30k over the speed limit, the only time the left lane is a fast lane or passing lane is on a free way and there is no left turn option
Justmeeh, there are signs going up the Hart; “Slower traffic keep right”. The police always refer to the left lane as the fast lane.
If you’re always being tailgated, you’re probably driving too slow. Just use that little pedal on the right and you’ll be fine.
detoe43, I hope you realize that the gravel spray you like to give may likely result in a claim against your insurance. Don’t believe me? Call up I.C.B.C. and ask them yourself.
As for myself I am investing in a dashcam for just such an occurrence.

FWIW I’ve noticed a lot of drivers lately being all passive aggressive in trying to control the flow of traffic. Speeding up and slowing down just to keep people behind them, it’s absolutely bizarre.
Probably the same people who will speed up a good 20 KMH when they hit a passing lane on the highway.
I think the answer is to raise the speed limit to what the studies determined the safe speed should be and then enforce it. On the Hart it was 80 not the current 70. It was put at 70 because the police said if it was 80 people would drive 90 but if it was 70 people would drive 80 – the safe speed. Which was good until I was told speeding tickets would result in job loss and maybe not all police understand the plus 10 allowance.

You don’t need to be in the left lane for your left hand turn 5km before the intersection. Heck, I’ve seen some bozos drive the left lane all the way from Austin Rd to 5th Avenue. You’d think that after the 10th car has passed them on the right that they might clue in but you’d be wrong.
Driving down the Hart this morning when some guy driving a Burke Purdon Enterprises logging truck whips acrosss two empty northbound lanes just to cut into the left southbound lane, causing everyone to have to slam on their brakes. He then proceeds to stay in the left lane keeping pace with the SUV in the right lane. He was still in the left land when I turned off on to 5th. If you’re going to drive like an idiot it’s probably not to bright to do so in a company truck.
Did you take the truck number down and phone burke purden? If not, then he has nothing to worry about.
