Bee Situation Over
Prince George, B.C.- The problem with a swarm of bees that buzzed around George Street yesterday is over.
The honey bees, that had left their hive, have been contained. Most of the bees died when they were run over by a vehicle, the rest were enticed to settle on a hive frame.
The swarming occurred when thousands followed their queen, which, according to bee keeper George Bomford, would have received a "congestion" signal, and opted to make the move to find a new, less crowded home.
While the bees has originally amassed in an elm tree on the corner of 5th and George, hundreds then pooled on the pavement, a move that proved to be a grave error. The bees were no match for the wheels of a vehicle.
The area is now clear of the confused honey bees, and it's business as usual.
250News has been told the hive boxes, believed to be the former home of the bees, are to be relocated. It is believed the bees came from the hive boxes located on the roof of City Hall.

The bees came from a hive that the city placed on the roof of their building in order to help the bees out. Good idea but bad result.
Why is it bad? Bad for the bees I guess.
Bee keepers normally look for indications of a swarm by monitoring the queen cells. Swarms can be prevented if the bee keeper takes the proper precautions and monitors their hives regularly.
The corner of 5th and George had a whole bunch of bees aimlessly flying round when I walked past there this evening so I don’t know how they can use the word ‘contained’
So there are bees flying around! Big deal.
I totally agree but they are not ‘contained’ as the city says.
Well I guess the prositutes can go back to work then. Probably the cleanest few nights that part of the crime riden discusting city and most dangerous place to live in canada called Prince George
You could say the city’s sting operation was a success.
