Supt. Stubbs Issues Letter of Thanks

Wednesday, June 11, 2014 @ 5:30 PM

Prince George, B.C.-  The tragic events of the past week in Moncton, where three RCMP officers died, and two others were wounded in  the line of duty,  have  touched the hearts of all Canadians.

Prince George is no exception.

Superintendent Eric Stubbs, the officer in command of the Prince George detachment,  has  issued this  note  to say thank you to this community:

The loss of three police officers has been felt throughout the law enforcement community and the communities that we serve.  On behalf of the Prince George RCMP, I would like to sincerely thank those members of the public and businesses that have provided support for the RCMP, its members, staff and families during this difficult time.

Since this tragedy occurred, the Prince George Detachment and our provincial colleagues at the North District Headquarter building on 5th Avenue have been receiving steady streams of support through letters, e-mails, flowers, and baked goods.  Members of the public have honked, waved and provided generous acts of kindness towards our officers.  Businesses have honoured our fallen officers by lowering their flags to half mast, something that is not required of them, but very much appreciated.

We are deeply moved by the people of Prince George and surrounding communities.  Thank you for showing us your kindness and compassion.

Yours truly,

Eric Stubbs, Superintendent

Officer In Charge

Prince George RCMP Detachment

We are the ones who should be thanking you and the members of the detachment for all you do to keep our community safe.
so, Thank You…..

amen flowerchild

The police do a great job with an exception of the smallest degree. Mental illness funding needs to be addressed on the wake of events like this.

Lost three good solid people, like a punch in the gut and a lot of anger that they had to leave us because another one slipped through the cracks. It is increasingly difficult to determine who among those with anger at authority are going to commit such a sick act but hopefully in future someone will come forward to warn if they know.
I can only wish them well, those police officers who keep up safe, sometime from ourselves. Safe shifts, folks.

Yes indeed, thank all of you for your service.
