Quesnel And District Voters Approve New Arena

Quesnel- Mayor Mary Sjostrom says she is," thrilled" at the results of the vote into the construction of a new Community center in Quesnel.
Mayor Sjostrom says 'this will bring more people to our community and I think it will open up new economic opportunities " .
The vote, held on Saturday, was 2273 yes and 962 no, paving the way for the new Cariboo Arena Replacement Project .
The new facility will have a seating capacity for 1600 people.
The vote approves the borrowing of up to $7.5 million dollars over twenty years to build the facility.

Isn’t this like the 4th or 5th time that they voted on this issue?
They voted “No” last Fall on the proposal to borrow 15 million.
hmmm so Quesnel votes to approve a new ice arena, and Vanderhoof votes to approve a new swimming pool… but PG voters can’t be trusted to vote on a PAC because referendums always fail?
Hopefully this also means the return of BCHL Team (BC Hockey League)in Quesnel.
