Terrace, B.C.- The Kitsault mine project, has received a Mines Act permit from the Province of B.C.
The $812 million dollar project is located about 140 kilometers north of Prince Rupert.
Kitsault will employ approximately 700 people during a two-year construction period and 300 full-time workers during operations. Avanti Kitsault Mine Ltd. – a wholly owned subsidiary of Avanti Mining Inc. – is targeting 2015 to begin construction and 2017 for operations.
It is expected the molybdenum mine will produce 45,500 metric tonnes of ore per day during its 14-year mine life.
"This is a very significant milestone for the Kitsault molybdenum project” said Gordon J. Bogden, President and CEO of Avanti “Further, it is a forerunner for other corollary leases and licenses that are anticipated within a few days and which will allow us to commence road and camp construction at site.”
Avanti Kitsault Mining Ltd. was issued a provincial Environmental Assessment (EA) certificate for their Kitsault Mine on March 18, 2013 and a Federal EA decision is pending.
