Giscome, B.C.- Tomorrow, residents along the East Line, including Willow River, up to, ( but not including) Sinclair Mills head to the polls to decide if they want to pay a little extra in their Regional District taxes.
The extra money would be collected to cover the operating costs of the new East Line Activity Centre attached to the new Giscome Elementary School.
The tax impact per property varies, as it will depend on assessed value and homeowner grants.
Voting starts at 8:00 tomorrow morning, and residents can vote until 8 tomorrow night at either the Willow River Fire Hall – 524 Railway Avenue, or in Aleza Lake at the Regional District Mobile Unit located beside CN train track.
Here is the exact question:
“Are you in favour of East Line Community Facilities Service Establishment Bylaw No. 2894, 2014 which proposes to authorize the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to:
- establish a community facilities service within that part of Electoral Area F shown outlined in bold on Appendix “A” to Bylaw No. 2894; and
- set a maximum annual tax requisition limit amount as the greater of $15,000 (Fifteen Thousand Dollars) or the amount obtained by applying a property value tax rate of $0.52 per $1,000 against the next taxable value of land and improvements within the service area, and user fees.”

two questions , not one
So a residence worth 300,000 will pay $156.00. Should of checked this out before you built it.
Great job to the little community that could!!! Remember this is based on net value and the above comment does not factor in homeowner grants. A low cost for so many benefits. And yes, it was checked out before it was built, but thanks to a supportive community, it was. At least they know that amenities need to be supported and paid for.
ok
A very long over do upgrades for an area that had so many taxes dollars worth of resources taken out of it over the year. Way to go East line community. Build it and they will come.
Petty cash tax increases for a huge improvement in the area…..simple.
