Single Vehicle Rollover On Chief Lake Road
Prince George, BC – No serious injuries today following a single vehicle roll over on Chief Lake Rd…
The accident occurred just after 2pm when the vehicle with a lone occupant left the highway and rolled into the ditch, approximately half-a-kilometre west of Garvin's Canyon.
Members of the Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Department responded.
The crash comes as Prince George RCMP remind motorists they'll be kicking off their summer CounterAttack program in the city.
Municipal Traffic Section Acting Sergeant, Corporal Corey Eggen, says, "We will be out this evening and throughout the summer, targeting drivers that put our community at risk by driving while intoxicated."
"Please make the right choice," urges Constable Eggen, "Arrange a safe ride home."

Is there a connection here between the crash and the CounterAttack program? Seems odd to mention it if not…
The one million dollar counter attack program is mostly money spent advertising the program. There won’t be any more police out this weekend than any other weekend. In fact, I’m going on a long bike ride north of town this weekend, if I see any active counter attack activity the 6 hours I’m out there I’ll be surprised. BTW – does anyone know if that restaurant at Bear Lake is still open?
Bear Lake? More than one restaurant when the pipeline time comes.
Strange, that’s a straight stretch of road too!
Ski50. The small restaurant in the service station is still open,. That’s the only one I know about.
I drove in from Mackenzie today. It is a wonder there aren’t more crashes and deaths out there. People passing semi trucks on blind corners and double solid centerlines, two passing at once, severe tailgating. Witnessed 4 near head on collisions from Windy point to Bear lake, all from idiots passing me when unsafe to do so. One female with 2 N’s on her car was stopped by the cops, 5 minutes later she she blew by me and everyone else like we were standing still. Many semi trucks driving the same way too. Bunch of A holes out there endangering others lives.
They say speed kills. BS it does! It’s all the fn morons out there that kill!
AND, they’re all taught by their parents, I’ll bet!
Hope she was alright.
Blaming the parents? I taught mine and they’re just fine.
Ducks?
Dragon master -thanks. You helped me make a decision. I was trying to decide whether to go to powder king or sun peaks next season. You reminded me how f’n crazy drivers r on that road. South may be longer but it’s safer with the passing lanes and more frequent policing. Sun peaks gets the season pass. Sorry PK. You’re a nice hill but I’ve never driven there without a near death experience
Time and place for speed. Time and place.
Unfortunately we lack the road courses in this part of BC to allow drivers to test their cars to their limit in a safe environment.
Ski50: “Sorry PK. You’re a nice hill but I’ve never driven there without a near death experience”
I drive that highway all the time with very few issues. Maybe it’s you? Just sayin’.
Wow I have never had a problem heading north, but man heading south is a gong show.
JohnnyBelt – actually, I’ve never driven back without a near death experience. Usually I’m coming back on a Thurs or Friday afternoon in the winter, and the loggers who have probably been drinking Red Bull all day to stay awake, are wired and on the road. They pass on solid lines, they pass into curves. Why I’m the only one with this problem, I have no idea. I drive flow of traffic speed, I pull over and let vehicles pass if I’m the lone vehicle, and yet, there’s still some guy who decides to roll the dice and see how it turns out. Things might be better next winter, I noticed once it was up graded to a Class A highway they plowed the shoulders which at least gives you a chance to get out of the way.
