Happy Time At Fort George Park

Plenty of folks enjoyed Canada Day at Fort George Park  today – photos 250News

Prince George, B.C.-  It was a picture perfect Canada Day at Fort George Park in Prince George.

The sun was shining, perhaps a little too brightly for some, as most in attendance sat well back of the stage  in order to take advantage of the shade trees.

Still, hundreds  were on hand to sample the music, dance and food from a variety of  cultures on  hand to celebrate  Canada’s 147th birthday.

(Below left,  MLAs join the Mayor in  cutting the  cake, while at right,  London Whitford and her  little sister Charlotte line up to get a piece of that cake).

In addition to the many  booths offering special wares such as  mobiles made from recycled material,(below left) there was a medieval  "fight" demonstration ( the guy on the right would win)

Canada Day celebrations in Prince George wrap up tonight with  a fireworks display  courtesy of Canfor.  The display starts at 11 p.m. and will be launched from  Connaught Hill.

Great day. Much better with more to do than last year. Nice to see it just jammed packed with people too.

Was at the park today with the family, was great, lots to see, entertainment was good. Tons of people all, celebrating what a great country we live in.

I think one of the largest crowds ever.. just happy to be with other proud Canadians.

bc, I echo your statement, a proud and cheerful day there, good entertainment, good food and courteous people, but eh, that’s us, eh? Please, thankyou, as always were common comments, which make Canada great.
The ethnic diversity was good to see as well.
Happy Birthday, Canadians!

Seriously, do you think Mike Morris could have worn something better than dirty jeans and a work shirt to show a little pride and celebration?

I thought Mike Morris looked fine. Do you want him to wear a suit to the park?

My one small criticism is that it would have been better to have cold drinks more readily available. They were only available at the food stands, for which the lines were pretty long. Some stands serving just cold drinks, or places with cold water, would be nice in this heat.

I was struck by the number of Filipinos. I didn’t realize we had so many in PG.
