Speed Changes Officially Announced

Wednesday, July 2, 2014 @ 10:13 AM

Prince George, B.C.- As 250News reported last week,  there will  be  no change to the speed limit on  highway 97  or on highway 16, however, there will be  a change on the Coquihalla.

The official announcement has just been made by Transportation Minister Todd Stone.  He said there was little support  for changes in the speed limits in Northern B.C.

The Coquihalla, the Okanagan Connector and Highway 1 will see changes to their speed limits.

The new  maximum speed limit in B.C.  will be 120 km per hour on some  highways.

There will be also a pilot project  of variable speed limits which  will be marked as changed by an LED sign. The pilot  project will  see limits change in conjunction with road conditions.

The  changes in limits  follow a  Ministry of Transportation review which  called on the public for  input  on   issues of  speed,  wildlife collisions, larger vehicles and the possibility of making  winter tires  mandatory  for  all vehicles.

Why would they increase the limits in the north, too much ticket revenue to be made and gives the cops something to do.

..reason the cpeed limits won’t change in the north is because moose can’t run that fast…..

I find it interesting reading all these posts about police officers and them doing their job. Yes doing their job and that includes enforcing the traffic laws also. Do you know that according to most medical staff I have spoken to that the most drain placed on our tax dollars are from motor vehicle collisions.

So if you don’t want to visit your family and friends in the hospital and help them eat there meal thru a straw, why are you bitching at them for doing there job.

If thats your mantality then – taking the same thing into account – can someone ask you if its alright for them to walk out of a store with out paying for it – Its not a big deal say the item was a choclate bar or a shirt. Its nothing really right so its fair game for everyone to do as they please who cares about society and the rule put in place to keep them safe.

WELL is it ……

I hope my employees don’t think so cause if caugght them they would find themselves explaining themselves to the police yes for that choclate bar given aka stolen and them they would be finding themselves another job also….

Is there any differance between the two – I don’t think so – so get off there backs and let them do there job they are hired for

I don’t mind being pinched for speeding. Its the law, all the officer is doing is saving your life and the life of a potential victim. If the limit is a 100 and your busted doing 125, shut up pay the fine and slow down.

Speed kills.

Getagrip, go back to English 10 and post again.

There is speed changes to hwy 97. That nice long stretch south oh 100 Mile House is going to 110.
