Cougars Look for Billet Families
Prince George, B.C.- New ownership, New Ice Age, and now, the search is on for new billets.
The Prince George Cougars have openings for billet families who want to bring a future Prince George Cougar into their home.
The new owners of the team recently met with the current and past billets to learn how the billet program can be improved.
“Quite simply, billet families are the most important people in our City as far as our players and their parents are concerned, and we understand the need to have a first class billet program” says Andy Beesley, Vice President of Business for the Cougars. He says the Cougars billet program has been revamped “to make sure our billet program is something that everyone involved will be very proud of.”
Billet families are primarily responsible for housing and feeding players while they are in Prince George during the hockey season. Families will be compensated both financially, and with tickets. Former Cougar and now team shareholder Eric Brewer says his billet family provided a wonderful environment for him to grow up and play hockey in “I believe that Prince George is a great place for young kids to play, and families should be very comfortable with the environment that their kids are going to be in.”
“Supportive billet families are a big part of team success,” adds Prince George Cougars shareholder Dan Hamhuis. “It’s tough being away from home at that age, and great billets allow players to enjoy their time and experience in Prince George.”
