Fercho Making a Move

Sunday, July 6, 2014 @ 10:56 AM

Mackenzie, BC- The District of Mackenzie is losing its Chief Administrator.

Mark Fercho, who had previously worked with the City of Prince George, will be leaving  his post in Mackenzie  in August,  to take the post as CAO with the Municipality of Jasper, Alberta.

Fercho says  parks have always played a big part  in his life,  he had worked for  BC Parks  for a decade before  taking on a post  with the City of Prince George.  He says  while he and his wife Melinda “fell in love” with Mackenzie,  living in Jasper  has  been a long time dream.

That doesn’t mean  leaving Mackenzie will  be easy,  Fercho says  “Since making this decision to leave for a new life in Jasper, the sense of sadness we have experienced in everyone has been overwhelming. The depth of friendships and connections we have in Northern BC is making this decision very emotionally draining and one of the most difficult changes we have ever made.”

Fercho says  the Chief Administration Officer position in Mackenzie  is “an amazing opportunity"  supported by  great staff and  Mayor and  Council.

Fercho starts his new  job August 25th.
