Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Fire Centre  has a second major blaze to deal with.

Lightning has sparked a fire on the north side of Euchiniko Lakes and is estimated to be about 150 hectares.  It is not an interface  fire.

The  fire is being assessed, but  a helicopter spent much of last evening  dumping  water on the flames.  Two initial attack crews from the Cariboo Fire Centre have  responded  as the blaze has crossed into that region.

Then there is the Red Deer Creek Fire,  southeast of Tumbler Ridge , which is estimated to have grown to 3000 hectares.  It isn’t showing any signs of letting up.

The evacuation order for two work camps remains in effect

with the tempreatures next week , supposedly up above 30C, I think they had better count on a few more and get ready now. Over teh weekend I am pretty sure the forests are going to be crawling with people looking for a place that is cooler than in town. thus huge campfires and if people don’t put them out, oh yes, forest fires for forestry to put out. .

Fire ban by the weekend!

it’s gods will.

Open fire ban is on for the PG Fire centre.. I would imagine that we will see a full ban including camp fires very soon if this weather keeps up..

I wonder how all that young lodgepole forest got here when we first paddled up the rivers?

Wheres all the whiners on this site bitchin about all the taxpayers money being spent on fighting fires? Must be spending all their time attacking teachers I guess?
