Red Creek Fire Grows
Prince George, B.C.- The Red Deer Creek fire , 61 kms south east of Tumbler Ridge is now estimated to have grown to 5000 hectares.
The evacuation orders for two work camps remain in effect, and a Structural Protection unit has been set up on the oil and gas camps. There are now 80 firefighters, 5 helicopters 2 pieces of heavy equipment and 4 air tankers working on this blaze.
Meantime, resources from both the Prince George Fire Centre and the Cariboo Fire Center are battling the blaze at Euchiniko Lakes. There are 40 firefighters, 2 helicopters and 7 pieces of heavy equipment working at that site.
The fire danger rating map ( at right) shows the rating has been increased to extreme in some areas of the province. The prdicted hot dry weather for the next few days is expected to increase the danger throughout the province.
