actually the stats are really misleading, just more people are now are eligible to collect than last year…

If we viewed the situation properly, a rise in the unemployment rate would be seen as a good thing instead of a bad one.

If unemployment weren’t accompanied by unemPAYment we could view it as we should.

For it is a very inefficient country indeed that needs to have 100% of its workforce working to produce and deliver 100% of its needs and wants in terms of actual goods and services.

Whether we like it or not the world has been working towards putting itself out of work ever since the advent of the Industrial Revolution.

Every called for increase in ‘productivity’ and move towards greater productive ‘efficiency’ means, and can only mean, that we are gaining more productive output with ever the less labor input.

At some point in time we’ll have to realise that we’re going to have to disconnect the payment of ‘incomes’ needed to consume all of the product we keep producing more efficiently solely from the shrinking number of ‘jobs’ that make that increased efficiency possible.

The true stat is how many are working this year to what it was last year. Wish those stats would be posted.

if you are talking about misleading, what percentage of worker that were on EI last year, have had their claims expire and are still not working. The Welfare stats may tell us this. Either way, I think the unemployment rate is a lot higher than the stats tell us.

Timmies is hiring!

If Timmies is hiring, then the economy must be doing well…

If only we had a PAC. There would be jobs galore and a waiting list for people begging to live in PG.
