Fire Ban To Take Effect at Noon
Prince George, B.C. – The size of the Reed Deer Creek fire has been adjusted. Prince George Fire Centre Fire Information Officer Jillian Kelsh says the new mapping of the blaze puts the fire at 4,500 hectares. That’s down from the 5,00 hectare estimate.
There are 120 firefighters, and 10 pieces of hevy equipment working the blaze which is 61 kms southeast of Tumbler Ridge. Last evening, the site received 1 mm of rain, so that helped reduce the rate of growth of the fire.
“Crews are making progress” says Kelsh, “They hope to complete their containment lines soon, and then we will be able to give some containment numbers.”
As for the Euchinika Lakes fire south west of Prince George, It is now estimated to be 334 hectares in size. There are 2 helicopters working that blaze.
Kelsh says that as of noon today, there will be a ban on all category 2 and three fires in the Prince George fire centre, that means any kind of outdoor burning, other than a campfire, will be prohibited in the Prince George Fire Centre (except the Fort Nelson region) until further notice.

Smokers, stop flicking your lit cigarettes out of you car windows! That’s what your ashtray is for.
I know I sound stupid asking this but could anyone confirm for me what is designated as a campfire? I think it is one meter high by one meter wide.
western2, you might be right but I thought it was half of that…
have a safe weekend all…

Lots of that flicking goes on around here. Too many stupid people are permitted to wander unchecked.
