BBQ in the VLA
Prince George, B.C.- It’s bar-b-q time in the VLA!
Community Policing Prince George is partnering with the Community Gardens Prince George, Digital North Accounting, Linda Davis who manages several properties on Quince Street, and CRC Enterprises in putting on the two hour event at the Community Garden on Milburn from noon until 2 p.m.
“It’s an opportunity to connect and give to that community” says Linda Parker, Community Policing Coordinator.
It’s also an opportunity to share information on programs such as Block Watch, CrimeStoppers, Victim Services, “Most importantly it’s connecting and chatting with people and making them aware of some of the services” says Parker.
The VLA is known to have some challenges, but Parker says all neighbourhoods could make good use of the information that will be available during this afternoon’s event “It’s critical that we communicate and connect with all communities, the VLA is no exception. Every community needs assistance, some may just need more than others, so we are really reaching out and just sort of fostering that continuing community spirit which I know the VLA has a lot of.”
Parker laughs over her weather worries for the event “Initially I was worried it was going to rain but I don’t think that will be an issue, so I made sure we had a tent, but now I think we will need that tent just for some shade.”
It’s a free event for local residents and Parker is looking forward to seeing many from that community “It’s going to be a beautiful hot sunny day so I hope everyone comes out and enjoys themselves.”
