Cougars GM Announcement Expected Tuesday

Saturday, July 12, 2014 @ 5:03 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars have called a “major” media conference for next Tuesday, at which it is expected they will announced the signing of the club’s new General Manager.

The Cougars’ Community Relations spokesman Dan O’Connor would neither confirm nor deny that the news conference concerns a new GM but hinted that the question was not heading down the wrong track.

The Cougars have been without a general manager since it was announced in April that Dallas Thompson would not be retained in that position by the club’s new ownership group.  Thompson served as GM for ten years, starting in the 2004-05 season.  The club compiled a 256-422-17-35 record and missed the playoffs the past three seasons and 5 of the last 7 seasons with Thompson at the helm.  He had also served as Assistant GM and Assistant Coach during the Cougars first twenty years in Prince George.

Tuesday’s media conference goes at 10 a.m. outside the Cougars dressing room at CN Centre.  Following May’s introduction of the new ownership group, an event attended by 15 to 17-hundred excited fans at CN Centre, the team says “space will be limited” on Tuesday “but the public is welcome to attend this announcement.”
