Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP’s Community Policing section and its partners teamed up to put on a barbeque and gather residents who live in the VLA to discuss ways of making the community safer.

Community Policing, Community Gardens Prince George, Digital North Accounting, property manager  Linda Davis and CRC Enterprises hosted the event Sunday afternoon at the Community Garden on Milburn Avenue.

Copmmunity Policing Coordinator Linda Parker called it “an opportunity to connect and give to that community.”   It was also an opportunity to share information on programs like Block Watch, CrimeStoppers and Victim Services.  “Most importantly it’s connecting and chatting with people and making them aware of some of the services” says Parker.

Volunteers were on hand to prepare the food and make sure the kids had an opportunity to collect a toy and take part in some of the fun activities that were available.

Parker says Community Policing takes part in similar events throughout the city to let residents know that their neighbourhoods and their concerns are recognized.

Another service that is available in Prince George is the new jail, and the prison on the airport hill.

Perhaps we should be using these services more.
