Prince George, B.C."Use your common sense and listen to your body."
The advice of Medical Health Officer Dr. William Osei during a teleconference today on how to stay healthy during the current heat wave that is gripping Northern B.C.
He says as is the case in all heat waves the young, the old, and those with underlying health conditions are most vulnerable when it's hot outside.
Osei concedes Northerners are being hit with a "double whammy," – scorching hot temperatures and a smoke advisory – but notes most of us have been through this before and therefore know their limits – namely exercise in moderation, stay hydrated, and listen to your body.
Asked if the hot weather has led to more health emergencies over the weekend, Osei concluded there's been no indications of that so far.
