He says "it's encouraging to see the report recognizes the considerable improvements that have been made by industry."

Gorman also says it acknowledges how committed industry has been "to sustained compliance with the regulations" and he says "we're certainly going to continue to work closely with Worksafe BC and the report in implementing the recommendations as they pertain to wood dust."

He says he's also pleased the report points out "the industry has taken a very serious look at and made millions in investments" to ensure mills are safer.

Gorman says the numbers reflect that commitment noting safety compliance concerning dust levels has risen from over 50% to around 85%.

He says the recommendation regarding workers penalties  for non-safety compliance  and others creates a "broader sweep of tools that work sites can now use to address workplace issues."

After all says Gorman, "safety is always a top priority."
