Prince George, B.C.-, The heat wave that's been gripping Prince George this week isn't expected to last past Thursday.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Alan Coldwells says temperatures will likely max out at around 34 degrees today – well short of the previous high of 36.1 degrees Celsius set in 1941
He's also forecasting a high of 30 degrees Wednesday and 27 Thursday before the heat turns to periods of rain Friday and a much cooler high of 19.
He says that will continue into Saturday with an expected high of 20.
Coldwells says the drop in temperature should be a welcome development for area fire crews battling wildfires.
On Monday a high of 33.1 degrees broke a record previously set in 2007.
Over the next couple of days Coldwells still advises anyone heading outdoors to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, avoiding too much sunshine and wearing plenty of sunscreen.

Too bad this nice weather is being wrecked by all this smoke. We need the rain for sure at this point.
One more reason I prefer -35 to plus 35. No forest fires.
I don’t know who wrote this–but ‘a drop in precipitation’ just doesn’t sound right!! ‘a drop in temperatures’ maybe?
Proofreader on holiday?
whatthe —I most certainly agree with you there. no pleasure n this heat at all.
Its summer and I expect heat. The smoke is what’s making it unbearable. It just holds the heat like a greenhouse. Still beats shoveling snow off the driveway though
Who needs a proof reader when they have you ntkr?
Soon there will August frost! Enjoy it anyway you can while it lasts.
Running a couple sprinklers a round your house does help cut the smoke in the immediate area.
Return of the suck??
NoWay: “Soon there will August frost! Enjoy it anyway you can while it lasts.”
This thick smoke isn’t enjoyable no matter how much I try.
love how they have to add safety tips about the heat…. like we need the local news to tell us how to survive.
I was just told that one of the mills was on fire but haven’t heard anything on here yet.
