Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George is socked in with smoke from wildfires. While one might think it is the Mt. McAllistar blaze near Chetwynd that is sending the choking smoke this way, Jillian Kelsh of the Prince George fire Centre says it is more likely from the Euchiniko fire west of Quesnel.
In addition to the impact on people with respiratory conditions, residents have been discovering ash on their vehicles over the past couple of days. In the evening, the smoke is having an effect on the setting sun as it shows brilliant colours of pink or red.
There is no word on when the air might clear, although the rain forecasted for later this week is sure to help.
In the meantime, the City continues to offer "free fare for clean air", meaning all rides on transit are free until midnight of the day the advisory is lifted.
