Prince George, B.C. – Police have provided an update on the woman struck by a car on 15th Avenue near UHNBC late Tuesday afternoon.
North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says she suffered a serious head injury and was scheduled to have surgery last night.
He says if her condition remained stable, she was due to be sent to Vancouver.
Tyreman says no other details including her age are available at this time but notes the investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses have told 250 News however that a red pick-up truck was on scene though that has not yet been confirmed by police.

So sad. Hopefully she pulls through and the person responsible is apprehended.
How do you know a crime was committed? Rather presumptuous don’t you think?
would a crosswalk and lights be in order here?
There is a crosswalk there. If she was indeed crossing 15th at Edmonton she was well within the unmarked crosswalk. The problem with crosswalks (unmarked or marked) is that the average Prince George driver doesn’t have the brains to be allowed to walk in public, let alone drive a vehicle.
Hope the pedestrian recovers regardless of whose fault it was.
Not only that axman a lot of people don’t have the brains to look both ways before crossing! They ASSume because there is a little white line on the road that they have the right away and proceed onto the street without freaking looking! Or they are on their phone or have head phones on or or or!
Here is a life saving tip when crossing the street! Stop look both ways! Look means look to see if you can see the drivers eyes! With many blind spots in a vehicle these days if you can’t see the driver they can’t see you! Do not proceed until you know you have the attention of the driver and that they are slowing down. Sure you might have the right away in a crosswalk but I promise you will lose the fight if the driver doesn’t see you!
Yeah, I have been in a few situations where people just step out into traffic without making eye contact.
It’s not worth being in the right if you’re dead.
I don’t think there is a xwalk there.there is one a hundred yards west of where the accident happened.

If it’s an intersection it’s a crosswalk.

Proof please….
I believe you are partially correct in that crossing Edmonton on either side of 15th would be deemed a crosswalk, but crossing the 5 lanes of 15th at that point would not be.
(b) is applicable here…
“crosswalk” means
(a) a portion of the roadway at an intersection or elsewhere distinctly indicated for pedestrian crossing by signs or by lines or other markings on the surface, or
(b) the portion of a highway at an intersection that is included within the connection of the lateral lines of the sidewalks on the opposite sides of the highway, or within the extension of the lateral lines of the sidewalk on one side of the highway, measured from the curbs, or in the absence of curbs, from the edges of the roadway;
There are no sidewalks on the other side of Edmonton street and thus no lateral lines to connect the sidewalk to the other side.
There is a sidewalk on the hospital side and along 15th ave so by definition lateral lines only connect sidewalks when crossing Edmonton but not 15th, so by definition (b) would not be applicable here – there is a crosswalk on Alward across 15th

Case law says you’re incorrect.
