Prince George, B.C. -The City of Fort St. John is prepared for the roughly 1,100 Hudson's Hope residents affected by today's wildfire Evacuation Order.
Information Officer Moira Green says they have already set up an Emergency Social Services Centre (North Peace Arena in Ft. St. John) where people can gather to register if they require housing, clothing or food.
In addition she says they have identified 140 hotel rooms in the community for tonight that can be used for emergency shelter.
Green isn't overly concerned that won't be sufficient to meet demand considering many folks will be bringing their RV's and motor homes and because most Hudson's Hope residents have family or friends that live in the city.
She asks people who don't require emergency social services to still call and register with them at 250-787-8182 so that they are aware of how many residents are in town.
She says the cost of the services is covered by Emergency Management B.C.
Meanwhile Hudson's Hope Mayor Gwen Johannson says her residents have been overly pragmatic regarding the situation and says there's been a steady stream of traffic out of town since the Evacuation Order was issued.
However she says she's staying put to man the ship "until there's danger to life and limb."
