Prince George, B.C. – The 2014 Vanderhoof International Airshow roars into the skies over the Nechako Valley this weekend.
The one-day airshow takes place today out of the Vanderhoof Municipal Airport and features fly-overs, several displays and a hangar party. With the contribution of $25,000 from the provincial government to go towards operating costs, the airshow offers the public the chance to see vintage and jet aircraft, classic car displays and dirt bike demonstrations, with food trucks on hand to feed hungry stomachs.
(at right, practice moves caught on film by photographer Bill Dobbs)
Gates open at 11 this morning with admission just $5 for adults, those 16 and under get in free of charge. The flying demonstrations run from 1 to 3pm. But there’s more! There’s a barbecue dinner running from 5 to 8pm at $35 per person and a dance, starting at 9pm, has an admission fee of $15.

Wonderful to see little Vanderhoof starting this up again. I hope they can keep it going this time, without P.G. horning in on it and making a shamozzle out of it again.
Might of went if I knew it was on sooner. Don’t recall seeing it in any of the local rags or on this site. But I might of missed it.
NoWay….look left, look right. Advertising for the Vanderhoof Air Show has been on this site for weeks.
What I don’t get is the picture on the ad shows the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels don’t seem to even have a Canadian date on their schedule this year. Phony advertising ?
Hey you guys in Vanderhoof will not be able to see those great government flyers called the Snow Birds they are all entertaining us down here in Abby. Maybe they are doing a double show. What the hell its just taxpayers money.
Hope you guys have fun in Vanderhoof. Great weather.
Cheers
Hey what is the name of the aircraft in the picture?
Cheers
It is a P-51B named “Impatient Virgin”.
Hope they get this going with a better lineup of aircraft one day. Just not quite enough variety there to fight the crowds.

No adverts show up on mobile.
Oh so its a USA Mustang
Cheers
Sad I’m not there to see that P-51 fire up.. My favorite plane too..
I’m born and raised in Vanderhoof. I thought they did a great job today. It was just like the good old 80’s. We were sitting near the front. When I went on my way to find the washrooms I had to make my way through the sea of people. The seating area was packed. There were many out of towners there too!
I think they’ll have to be careful that they don’t get too big for their britches like previous shows and some of the other local airshow flops. Food was good, weather good, show was great! Way to go Vanderhoof!!
