Vanderhoof, B.C. – The population of Vanderhoof increased substantially on Saturday as the town played host to its major attraction of the year, the Vanderhoof International Airshow.

There were some pretty good indicators the third edition of the airshow would draw a crowd.  The Airport Hangar Dinner was sold out earlier in the week and the infusion of $25,000 from the province didn’t hurt organizers who put the money to good use covering operating costs.

Roughly 40 aircraft turned out to take part, along with riders from the Red Bull Motorcycle Circuit.  Just $5 got you through the gate to watch the pilots and their vintage and jet aircraft perform.  It wasn’t too warm out and that made conditions just about right for flying and fun, a barbecue dinner and a dance to round the night out in Vanderhoof.

Why the same weekend as the BCNE????

Yeah that seems silly to hold it the same weekend. I know I would have gone had I not been volunteering at the fair.

I guess one could also say why the same weekend as the Abbottsford Air show but just like cowboys on the rodeo circuit once in the area the pilots move on to the next performance. Congratulations Vanderhoof on resurrecting your event…..the small town that can!
