Terrace, B.C.- With a fire danger rating of moderate to high in most of its region, the Northwest Fire Centre has announced there will be a campfire and open burning ban in portions of that region effective 4 this afternoon.
This prohibition will be in place for the Nadina and Bulkley Fire Zones and the Skeena Fire Zone, with the exception of the former North Coast District.
- campfires, as defined in the Wildfire Regulation
- Category 2 open fires
- Category 3 open fires
- outdoor stoves and other portable campfire apparatuses that are not CSA or ULC approved
- tiki torches
- burn barrels
- fireworks
- sky lanterns
This prohibition does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes. It also does not apply to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, with a flame height of 15 centimetres or less.
These prohibitions cover all BC Parks, Crown lands and private lands, but do not apply within the boundaries of local governments that have forest fire prevention bylaws and are serviced by fire departments.
The ban will be in effect until September 15th or until advised otherwise.

I’m surprised we don’t have that ban already here in PG
Imagine a rain forest with a fire ban. Weird year.
