CN Derailment Northeast of P.G.

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 @ 10:30 AM

Prince George, B.C.- There's been a CN derailment  90 miles northeast of Prince George.

CN’s  spokesperson, Emily Hamer says initial reports indicate eleven cars of a northbound  127 car train derailed.

The cars jumped the tracks  around 6:15 this morning  near the Hodda Forrest Service Road near the Parsnip River.

“We do know the cars are empty sulfur and centre beam cars” says Hamer.

There were no injuries, and the cause of this derailment is under investigation.

same old mantra…
and same old you got away with it ..

I wonder whose family memeber is going to have to get killed before the government finally investigates all these CN derailments.

I believe it will have to be a high government employees family.. ie Clark…

BC Racer. Trains derail all over North America. Have been for 100 years and will continue for another 100 years.

There is no benefit to a Railway having a derailment. In fact it is very expensive, so one would think that they are staying on top of the situation to ensure they have the least possible number.

Having said that, they could probably do a better job when it comes to maintenance.

Palopu I never said it was of any benefit for CN… what I am saying is CN uses the same mantra, and there never seems to be any investigations into maintenance or anthing else for that matter, when the train leaves the track and there have been a lot of them..

When you look at the amount of traffic that CN moves, there is actually a relatively low number of derailments.
Any time there is a derailment, there are internal investigations and preventative measures are put in place. The general public is just never informed of internal policies. And the general public isn’t aware of the amount of effort that actually does go into these investigations.

Funny how so many people give rail a free pass, no matter how many incidents. Not so much for pipelines or mines.

keep it metric people

10,000 people die on Canada’s highways each year. Should be an investigation.

peegee has it right. There is an investigation for every derailment, and the Federal Government is advised.

Lac magantic….
