Evacuation Order Issued for China Nose Mountain Fire Area
Houston, B.C. – The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an Evacuation Order for the area impacted by the China Nose Mountain Fire burning approximately 15 km southeast of Houston.
The order covers the area south from 9840 Heading Creek Forest Service Road, west to the Snow Mobile Cabin on Equity Road, east to and including Crow Creek Road to the train tracks, including Day Lake Road and Elwin Lake.
Chair Bill Miller says that area will also be expanded though the details won't be available until early this afternoon.
The Evacuation Order follows an Evacuation Alert which went into effect at 9 last night.
He says to his knowledge their have been no injuries and no structures are threatened at this time.
However fire information officer Olivia Pojar with the Northwest Fire Centre says the fire has grown to 800 hectares since last night and says the forecast is calling for extremely dry weather and wind gusts approaching 30 km per hour.
The district asks people affected by the Evacuation Order and needing transportation out to call 1-250-692-3195 or 1-800-320-3339.
