A Drier Than Usual Summer in PG

Saturday, August 16, 2014 @ 3:55 AM

Prince George, B.C. – It won't come as a shock to many, but Environment Canada has confirmed we are having an unusually dry summer in Prince George.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Andre Besson says it all started in June when just 24.9 millimetres of rain fell in PG.

He says that is well below the 65.3 millimetre average. Besson says in July PG had even less rain, 23.9 millimetres, when the average rainfall is 62.1.

And August is also shaping up to be dry as well with just .5 millimetres of rain so far, well below the usual 61.5 average.

Besson attributes the recent hot and dry spell to a ridge of high pressure that's been hovering over the area for days now.

He says we have been dry for quite some time noting the .5 millimetres of rain fell August 6th, and before that we had preciptiation July 30th.

Besson is predicting temporary relief in the coming days though which he says is due to an upper trough moving in from the Northwestern United States.

According to some, no it’s not! Its just a regular summer, forest fires happen, always have.

Its OK folks, this has nothing to do with global warming. Carry on like you are use to, ignore scientific facts and maybe they will go away!

These fires are regional not continent wide. Don’t get excited.

@BeingHuman Localized events may be due to global warming, but should not be attributed to such without research to back your position. It’s what separates rational people from the “skeptics”.

Ha ha so you are saying rational people are the ones making billions off the scam.

“The sky is falling, the sky is falling”!

A famous phrase from Henny Penny, otherwise known as Chicken Little!

Hmmm, Chicken Little? Peeps???

Any connection? I wonder……!

@seamut – no scientific agency of national or international standing in the world agrees with you. Heck even researchers at UNBC don’t agree with you. Is there a reason anyone intelligent should take your conspiracy theories seriously? Lol next up Seamut will explain to us all how NASA faked the moon landings.

First I need to grab some popcorn.
