Prince George,B.C. – Fortis BC has been unable to determine the cause of this morning’s gas leak in downtown Prince George.
Spokesperson Michael Allison says all they know is that it happened quite early.
“It probably took place early in the morning around 5 am and unfortunately we don’t have any evidence to let us know exactly what took place.”
However he says repairs to the gas line damage were completed by mid-afternoon as promised and says relights to the approximately 38 affected customers is well underway.
First discovered around 7:30 this morning in the 300 block of Quebec Street, the leak caused the evacuation of buildings between Brunswick and Quebec Street on Third Avenue.
The leak also blocked downtown traffic for a few hours.
