Teachers Head Into Mediation
Thursday, August 28, 2014 @ 8:40 AM
Prince George, B.C.- Mediator Vince Ready meets today with the President of the BC Teachers Federation, Jim Iker, and the negotiator for BCPSEA, Peter Cameron.
This will be the first round of talks in this dispute in several weeks.
Education Minister Peter Fassbender had asked the teachers to suspend their strike for two weeks, and the Province will lift the lockout while Ready works with the two sides to try and reach an agreement.
Fassbender has gone on record as saying the government has no plan to legislate an end to the dispute.
Classes are scheduled to resume on September 3rd in School District 57.
