New Operating System Launched
250News has launched a new operating system.
We want to say thank you for your feedback on the new system, and hope that should you come across any glitches, that you let us know so we can make the necessary adjustments.
The New System will allow us to improve our handling of comments as we will be able to edit only those portions which cross the lines of good taste, legality or bullying. The new system will also allow you to see a larger image of the featured images we post. This will be particularly helpful when we post map images in our stories, such as the one in the recycling story we posted today. All you have to do is click on the main image, and you will see a larger version of that image.
Thank you for your feedback on the font size. We have made that change.
We welcome the addition of Canadian Press to our site. Canadian Press has access to reporters across the country and around the world with a variety of perspectives. Canadian Press is used by most news organizations in Canada including the CBC. We have heard your request and are looking to add a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” option for the Canadian Press stories.
As we mentioned before, registered users need not re-register, however, the first time they comment within this new system will require an administrative approval before the comment shows. This will only happen the first time you comment within this new system.
We hope you will find the new operating system a positive change to this site where we pledge to continue to provide your news, your views, now.

I think some of the colors/shading needs changing along with the font. It’s kind of hard to read and strains the eyes a bit
There was nothing wrong with the way 250 was, why the change? Don’t care for it at all, always someone trying to reinvent the wheel.

The ability to alter a nickname could be troublesome. :)

May want to lock that. :)
I kind of liked it the way it was as well.
PS. It’s not a new operating system; you’ve changed the software over to wordpress. :)
One more thing! If you click on the Sports tab up top then Cougars Results you’ll see that I’ve added a game result for Oct 15 2016. You probably don’t want me doing that. :)

A wordpress site is much less costly to run then the previous software they used. At least that’s my guess.
This new software doesn’t seem to like paragraphs.
Or was it me?
I don’t know.
That was supposed to be three paragraphs. I better go before I get “gussed” for too many posts. :)
Another observation, you also can’t see how many comments are in the article without clicking on the article.
Yeah axman, the paragraph breaks aren’t working.
Apparently all previous comments posted has disappeared.
I see all of the posts which were on the board at the time the changeover occurred were wiped out. In the future if you plan on making major changes to the website could you please give us a bit of a heads up as to exactly when the changeover is going to happen so that people don’t spend the time putting posts on the board only to have them deleted shortly thereafter.
You need to put the instructions back on how to post a link below the “Leave a Comment” box.
I forgot to mention that I like the new look of the website.
I noticed it doesn’t seem to automatically update anymore, on my browser. So I will have to click on it to see what has happened since I last looked.
Twice now when I have clicked home, its brought me to a housing article from 2012. It doesn’t do it every time but it has happened twice. Once using Firefox on OSX and once on an Android tablet using the stock web browser.
I see the search site box is not working anymore.

Other posters have brought up some notable deficiencies, I’m sure in time most of these bugs will be worked out, even with the changes, we are still fortunate to have a local sounding board such as this. Thanks 250 for all your tireless efforts.
For a bit I was wondering who this Tuesday character was, and why he was the only one posting today spamming the board….
I like it better but the colours need to change, it’s a bit hard to read even with glasses on lol. It’s much faster too. One though is that there are way too many ads on the front page. I get ads are a money maker of a website but too many is cluttering the page.
I had a dream last night, it was all so clear, I was logged onto the 250 news, the old 250.
